This standard specifies the principal dimensions (length, breadth, depth, and design draft) for container ships designed to transit the locks of the Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtze River. It is applied by Chinese ship designers and builders to ensure vessels can safely and efficiently navigate the lock chambers, maximizing cargo capacity while complying with the physical constraints of the lock infrastructure. The standard is used in the design, construction, and regulatory approval of inland container ships operating on the upper Yangtze waterway.
