This standard NY/T 688-2003 'Rubber Tree Variety' was drafted by the Rubber Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences and others, and issued by the Ministry of Agriculture. It specifies terms and definitions for rubber tree variety breeding, including primary variety trial and advanced variety trial. It defines the grades of superior varieties (promotion, expanded trial, trial) and their technical indicators such as latex yield, wind resistance, and cold resistance. The standard also covers variety naming rules, propagation and extension procedures, including clonal multiplication, seed orchard establishment, variety purity maintenance, and quarantine requirements. Annexes provide trial data registration forms. This standard provides a technical basis for standardizing rubber tree variety breeding and extension in China.
