Select areas without severe frost and low-temperature rainy weather in winter and spring (average temperature of the coldest month above 13°C, extreme low temperature above 2°C, annual accumulated temperature ≥10°C above 7000°C), with convenient transportation, sufficient water source, slope ≤20°, and soil pH 4.5~5.5.
The environmental quality of the orchard shall comply with the provisions of NY/T 5023.
For small orchards with an area less than 60 hm², simple road systems, planting plots, irrigation and drainage systems, and soil and water conservation projects must be planned; for medium and large orchards with an area ≥60 hm², detailed survey and orchard planning shall be carried out.
For hilly slopes with a gradient greater than 15°, the hilltop must be retained or planted with water source forest, and the water source forest land accounts for 10%~15% of the total land area.
