The straightness tolerance of the working face of the straight edge and the straightness tolerance of any 200 mm shall comply with the provisions of Table 1.
Steel straight edges shall be made of high-quality carbon steel, alloy steel, or other materials, and the hardness of their working face shall be not less than 500 HV (quenched) or 170~245 HV (unquenched).
Granite straight edges shall be made of fine-grained, dense-structured gabbro, diabase, granite (with biotite less than 5%, elastic modulus greater than 1.2×10–6 kg/cm2, and water absorption less than 0.25%) or other materials, and the hardness of their working face shall be greater than 70 HS.
After 40,000 wear resistance life tests on steel straight edges and granite straight edges, the straightness of their working faces shall comply with the provisions of Table 1.
