Scope
This standard specifies the safety requirements for unitary air conditioners. This standard applies to air-cooled and water-cooled unitary air conditioners (cooling only type, heat pump type, heat pump type with auxiliary electric heating, and pure electric heating type) with a cooling capacity not less than 7000 W and a rated voltage less than 600 V AC. This standard also applies to multi-split air conditioning (heat pump) units, ducted air conditioning (heat pump) units, rooftop air-cooled air conditioning (heat pump) units, dehumidifiers, heat pump water heaters, and fresh air air conditioning heat pump units, etc. This standard does not apply to unitary air conditioners using non-mechanical refrigeration methods.
